The wrestlers are big and bright in Texas in the “Lone Star Shootout". The legendary "Mean Gene" Okerlund hosts this classic look back at professional wrestling history as we relive matches and the events of Southwest Championship Wrestling.


AWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel defends his title against a monster of a man named Bruiser Brody. It’s Bockwinkel’s skill and cunning against the uncontrollable and unpredictable, 6’-8", 330 lb. Brody. In Bockwinkel’s corner is his crafty manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. To try and keep things under control, promoters brought in six-time World heavyweight champion Lou Thesz to officiate.


The late comic genius Andy Kaufman donned the tights and infuriated Jerry "The King" Lawler when Kaufman kept challenging and pummeling women in the wrestling ring. But Kaufman didn’t stop there and constantly taunted Lawler. This is the confrontation where Lawler got his chance to shut up the unrelenting Kaufman.


The self-proclaimed “Dynamic Duo” of Gino Hernandez and Tully Blanchard battle for the Southwest Tag Team Championship in a match against Ricky Morton and Ken Lucas. Then see Hernandez and Blanchard defend the tag titles against the “Hardcore Legend” Terry Funk, and the awesome strength of “Polish Power” Ivan Putski.


Plus, Sherri Martel battles Judy Martin. Jerry "The King" Lawler goes against Bob Sweetan to see who has the best pile driver. The Mongolian Stomper defends the Southwest Heavyweight Championship against “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater in a brutal steel cage match. 88-minutes. Rated TV-14.
